Successful completion of the First Year of the TwinSip project

🌊 TwinShip Futuristic Digital Technologies Visit Future Ports

Today, 11th February 2026, we held the 2nd General Assembly of the TwinShip Consortium Horizon Europe project ( https://twin-ship.eu/ ) at the Port of Valencia, Spain – key milestones in advancing maritime digitalization for decarbonization.

🚢 The TwinShip consortium unites leading maritime technology providers, shipping companies, classification societies, ports, software developers, and research institutions. Together, we are developing an open-source digital platform powered by data, advanced AI/ML, and Digital Twin technologies for:

✅ Current vessels
✅ Current & emerging green fuels and technologies
✅ Futuristic vessel concepts and voyage optimization applications

At the heart of TwinShip is a DT-enabled Decision Support System (DSS) designed to:

✅ Support the industry’s digital transformation
✅ Accelerate decarbonization pathways
✅ Enable the adoption of clean fuels, renewable energy & unmanned vessels

With our pilot vessels and Futuristic Unmanned Vessel Concept, TwinShip is helping chart the course toward a sustainable, innovative, and resilient maritime sector.

The TwinShip futuristic vessel is charting its course toward the Ports of the Future!

The next TwinShip Horizon Europe workshop will take place at the Port of Valencia on 13 February, 2026 🗓️. This session will focus on how the digital tools developed in TwinShip can support the “port of the future” – from vessel and port Digital Twins to advanced data management and decision support.

During the workshop, we will:

  • Showcase how TwinShip Digital Twin and DSS solutions can improve situational awareness, safety and efficiency for ports and terminals
  • Explore the role of the VesselAI data platform in connecting ship and port data streams
  • Discuss early concepts around TwinPort, linking port operations with ship Digital Twins for smoother, greener maritime logistics
  • Engage with port authorities, technology providers, and researchers on real-world use cases and next step

If you’re working on smart ports, maritime digitalisation, or future port–vessel integration, this is a great opportunity to connect with the TwinShip team and help shape the next generation of digital maritime infrastructure.

TwinShip's 4th Pilot Demonstration Sets Sail Toward Net Zero - TwinShip Futuristic Vessel Concept - Maritime Digital Twin

🌊 TwinShip's 4th Pilot Demonstration Sets Sail Toward Net Zero - TwinShip Futuristic Vessel Concept

We’re excited to unveil the fourth Pilot Demonstration of the TwinShip Project - a groundbreaking concept: an unmanned Ro-Ro vessel powered by green fuels and renewable energy, targeting Net Zero Emissions by 2045. ⚓🌱

This simulated demonstration leverages Digital Twin (DT) and Decision Support System (DSS) capabilities for advanced voyage optimization—specifically, active weather routing to maximize energy harvesting from wind and wave conditions.

By integrating these insights into Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), the pilot highlights the economic and environmental value of reducing dependence on green fuels through renewable energy harvesting.

💡 As fuel remains one of the largest operational costs, and green fuel prices are expected to rise, this pilot explores a strategic countermeasure: use of renewable energy as a cost-saving and decarbonization solution.

Crucially, such energy harvesting often requires navigating in conditions not ideal for human crews. That’s why the unmanned vessel, designed with minimal onboard human-system requirements, unlocks new possibilities for safer, cost-efficient, and zero-emission shipping.
