| SINTEF AS is one of Europe’s largest independent research organisations and is a non-profit research foundation. Every year it carries out several thousand projects for customers large and small. More than 90% of our annual turnover derives from contract research for industry and the public sector in Norway and internationally, and we receive minimal state funding (around 6%). SINTEF is multidisciplinary, with international top-level expertise in a wide range of technological and scientific disciplines, medicine and the social sciences. Our company vision is "technology for a better society", and this is an important aspect of our societal role to contribute to the creation of more jobs. We act as an incubator, commercialising technologies through the establishment of new companies. SINTEF is represented in this consortium by SINTEF Digital. SINTEF Digital (part of SINTEF AS) conducts research and innovation in digital technologies and technology-oriented social sciences. Its multi-disciplinary knowledge base is used across all industries and helps its customers exploit and meet the opportunities created by digitalization and digital transformation. Furthermore, SINTEF Digital is represented in this project by the Smart Data Group part of the Sustainable Communication Technologies (SCT) department in SINTEF Digital. The Smart Data Group provides research-based expertise in data management / Big Data, Internet of Services and Internet of Things technologies, cloud computing, model-driven development, quality and security technology, user-centred development, and language technologies. The group brings expertise in distributed data management technologies relevant to the design and implementation of data-driven platforms (e.g., through HE enRichMyData, HE UPCAST, H2020 DataCloud, proDataMarket, euBusinessGraph, EW-Shopp, and FP7 DaPaaS projects). This group has been active in the design and implementation of approaches, tools, and services for data publication and data management as well as implementation of data sharing techniques. |

SINTEF Ocean, part of the SINTEF Group, is a multidisciplinary research institute who undertake about 600 projects per year under the vision "Technology for a better society", with the mission to develop the ocean industries of the future. SINTEF Ocean is conducting research for a wide set of ocean-based industries, like maritime, offshore renewables, aquaculture, fisheries, environmental technology, and new ocean industries. The institute has comprehensive experience and expertise in connecting science and industry and create successful solutions for customers and society at large, and create value through knowledge generation, research, and innovation. SINTEF Ocean holds world-class software and research infrastructure. The infrastructure ranges from specialized laboratories, via one of the world's largest ocean basin laboratories, to full-scale testing facilities in the ocean. Maritime related research in SINTEF Ocean includes more than 80 researchers across six research groups and four dedicated major laboratories, the towing tank, the ocean basin, the cavitation tunnel, and the maritime energy laboratory. |
